I thought I'd start this blog to let people know how I get on with the Humira. I thought anyone else starting or just started could compare notes too.

I had my first injection on 23 August. No problems, not even injection site reaction. Still on 25mg Methotrexate as well.

I haven't noticed any effect at all (I know this is normal). I am in a bit of a tangle as I have had to stop taking my anti-inflammatories as my blood pressure was going wonky and was having panic attacks.

Feeling fine apart from the RA now, hoping I'm one of the lucky ones who start to see improvement after the second dose which is due on Monday.

Went to hospital and did the second injection myself. It was easier than I thought and I feel fine. Keeping fingers crossed that I start to see some improvement this time.

I've felt a bit worse RA wise since the second injection mainly hands, wrists and feet. It could be coincidence as I've had a lot of stress at work but today my hip decided to join in. I've heard it's common to flare at the beginning so hoping it passes. Next jab due on Monday, at home on my own so that should be fun Smile

Hi Julie

Sorry to hear that the second injection brought problems with it. I think (and it's just me pondering!) it may be an immune response to the new treatment. I suppose we should perhaps expect the immune system to go into overdrive when anything 'unknown' is released into the system, that's how it's supposed to work after all RollEyes Hoping things will settle down for you very quickly and you are not in too much pain.

Thinking of you, take care,

Lyn x

Third injection done by myself at home. Julian and Jim decided they wanted to watch so turned into quite a family event - lol. The Humira 'pens' are so fantastic. Once you have depressed the injection button, you don't even have to keep pushing it, the pen does it all for you. So easy for wonky hands. The RA is still no better but just muddling though and still working part time.

Have had an upset stomach since 3rd injection. Feels like something pressing on my chest and food is just not 'going through' properly. Was up in the night feeling sick with lots of acid (but wasn't actually sick) then had diarrohea - but only for a few hours. Have found some anti sickness drugs my GP gave me after the last increase of Metho and a couple of these helped a bit today. I had this a fortnight ago (to a lesser degree) but just thought it was a coincidence. Hope it's just my body getting used to the Humira and it's not going to be a regular feature. Last time it passed in a few days so here's hoping. RA - no improvement. Hey ho - I expected this.

Have you tried some Gaviscon Julie?
I think it's still early days for you re the Humira yet.
By the way, do you want replies to your blog or is it just ''write only'?
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Good news is that my upset tum has more or less settled down. Bad news is that half my fingers are like sausages again, wrists barely functional and the tendon sheath in the back of my left hand is up like a big bubble (I know it's that as my GP told me last time I had a flare). I've got that awful 'vague' feeling that you get with the tiredness.

I know this is par for the course with Humira so am not particularly worried, I'm just doing what a lot of us do and getting anxious because I have loads to do. I know I shouldn't do this but don't feel that I can ask Julian to do any more as he's already doing all the shopping and cooking. I'm sure loads of us feel like this. Will just potter and try to get stuff done slowly.

Julie - I love the replies thank you. ThumpUp ThumpUp I'm going to get some more liquid gaviscon today, it was horrible trying to chew the tablets in the middle of the night - YUK. I'm already on 40mg omeperazole a day as well.

I thought I'd start this blog and it would be really positive and helpful to others - I'm not doing very well am I? LOL LOL Let's hope it will get there.

Might indulge in a spot of internet shopping to cheer me up Smile

Julie xx

hands and fingers are bad today. Taken lots of pain killers. Getting ready to watch the x factor

Hi Julie

Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time with this, but like you say you know why, so its that much more tolerable. We all have to potter, so try not to feel too bad that you can t do much just now. Thanks for doing this blog it is really helpful to us all, and I m sure you will be turning the corner very soon.

Hope you feel better with the " shopping " it bit of retail therapy never did us any harm !

Julia xx
